SUMMARY
Tasos is the youngest son of the house of Stavriadis and seventeenth in line to the throne of Ammostoichos. He has been many things. Mercenary, warlord, crusader, prince. He's fought the Cult and won, been to The Eye and back, and he's still alive.
For ten years he fought as his older brother Hyadotos' second in command. As master of the cavalry in his brother's mercenary company "The Sons of Hyadotos", he gained the experience and training that had shaped him into a capable soldier, and a strong commander. His exploits abroad and his military accomplishments as a mercenary of the Lefkipyloi are surprisingly well documented. These stories however were always told in the shadow of Hyadotos, the former heir to the throne of Ammostoichos, and Tasos' oldest brother, at least up until Hyadotos' death during the Second Crusade (or the Second War of Vengeance) in 1309.
On Hyadotos' death, Tasos became commander of the Sons and became a senior general on the Lefkie side during the Crusade, where the Sons formed the core of any forces he held command over during the war. His exploits during the war are documented well, but the history books have yet to be fully compiled due to how recent it was and the slow spread of information. In several circles, he is regarded as the saviour of the war.
His brother had loved him most of all his siblings. He had groomed him over a decade to be both his marshal and chancellor during his reign. However, that time would never come. He spent the better part of a decade preparing for this future, and thus Hyadotos' death left him with no clear direction except to avenge him. When he had finally avenged his brother's death, it brought him no peace.
When the Crusade was over, he disbanded the Sons, paid out the pensions of his men, and turned to wandering as a Freelance Mercenary, in search of nothing more than his own death.
That is, until he had returned from The Eye...
Now he is back in action, and ready to put himself back to work.
APPEARANCE
Tasos' appearance is typical of his dynasty. Relatively tall at 6'2", with olive skin and aquiline facial features. His eyes are a light-brown, almost bronze colour. It is said that he is the spitting image of his grandfather, King Tasos II, "The White Lion." Although this is an exaggeration, his eyes have the same shape as his mother's.
His armour is a suit of quality spacer EVA combat armour, purchased with both the wealth of his family and the wealth of his own success as a mercenary. However, this was purchased some time ago, and has a worn appearance now. He can be seen often wearing a cloak known in the League States of Southern Zuhverl as a "Chlamys" over the top of his suit. He wears different coloured cloaks depending on where he is travelling.
He has a necklace usually worn under his suit, with his brother's Ammostoichos signet ring hanging from it. His father allowed him to keep it, as the new heir chose to have his own created.
His boots have spurs on them, although they're fairly quiet unless he deliberately walks in such a way that makes them jingle, jangle, jingle.
His primary weapon is an assault rifle with a wide 1x red chevron holosight and a 3x scope that flips up and to the side when he doesn't need to shoot at range. The weapon itself is high quality, as League State firearms usually are. However, there is very little to say about it. It's a humble and unassuming weapon, usually hanging by his right side from a single point cavalry sling.
He has a large-bore revolver, which is itself not humble and unassuming. It can be comparable to a 45-70 Govt. revolver that can be found today. It has the grey eagle of Ammostoichos embossed onto the handgrip. The weapon was a gift from his father.
He also carries a cavalry sabre. He has used it before, but it's not something he reaches for often.
BEHAVIOR
Tasos is a warrior and a warlord, but he was also afforded an education by his royal upbringing. He is passionate, yet not too quick to anger. He has great experience with adversity and hardship, and is extremely driven and will always try his hardest to achieve the best result.
He is educated, and intelligent, yet has no particular love for the intellectual, save for his military and history studies. He dabbles in the socio-political, but lacks a particularly broad view on such philosophies. He has a very simple world ethos and has always tried to do what is "right", however not to any particular extreme, save for the things he did during one particular period of his life. During that period, he didn't try to do the right thing at all.
Tasos is currently a follower of Diakos, one of the gods of the Lefkipyloi. The primary values that Diakos' followers are dedicated to are stoicism, justice, and the pursuit of wisdom. This is a fairly recent development, and to re-adjust his personality and values is a part of his "recovery" in his eyes.
In general, his superstition is tempered by pragmatism. He honours the gods, genuinely believes in them, prays, and gives them offerings when he can, but he feels they can be fickle, and does not seek for any favour lightly, preferring to trust only in what he can gain by his own strength and conviction.
