SUMMARY
A practicing physician, Allie Markell is a seasoned denizen of Set. Allie also isn’t the sharpest or meticulous of the unionite bunch. Her skills are useful, but she still has a rough time planetside. Yet Set has pulled Allie in with its chaotic and broken nature, and she can’t help but explore and take in all of it.
APPEARANCE
A typical unionite clone, Allie’s biological body is a disembodied head with a light grey exoskeleton and peach skin. Her hull comes with reinforced outer housing. She hovers with ducted fans underneath, and a small thruster at the rear for maneuvering. She has custom manipulator arms which are slightly longer than average and landing skids folded underneath. Her body case is a spherical ball attached to her the hull’s back, and her optics are modified for both normal light and X-Rays.
Equipment-wise, she has three surgical arms. Two come with scalpels of different lengths, and one with a surgical laser, and a tool hardpoint containing retractors, a clamp and medical staplers. She has a second, larger tool hardpoint containing a set of repair tools. A compartment at her side is stocked with sealant gel and stitches, though can be stocked with any necessary materials. Hidden behind a hatch on her frontal left side is a propulsion cannon, effective up to 15m. A hologram emitter array covers her forward and upper chassis.
Her unionite avatar is a human female, 5”4 in height, brown-skinned with curly brunette hair. Her avatar wears a white fur coat with brown trousers, with no significant markings on either. A facial profile of rounded features gives her a soft look.
BEHAVIOR
Allie’s a mild and simple unionite. She’s nice and tries to be friendly, or, as friendly as a programmed cyborg could be. Most of the time, conflict downright terrifies her. Sometimes, her optimism borders on naivety. And always, the fear of death (and the Meat) is the only thing that can put a damper on her excitable nature and good mood.
Allie’s a professional physician. She’s learned to deal with just about everything on Set when it comes to surgery. She also functions as a pharmacist and physical therapist. The rest of her skills aren’t as stellar. She’s an okay mechanic and passable in a fight, at best.
In semi-unionite fashion, Allie lives for the experiences around her. Too bored for research data and too dim to ponder the poignancy of thought, Allie needs to be in the thick of things to be satisfied. This combined with her fascination with Set’s discord, and her lack of wisdom, inadvertently pulls her towards danger. It’s a wonder how she’s still alive.
RELATIONSHIPS
• Loonies don’t like Allie, and Allie is deathly terrified of them.
• Allie likes Space Loonies and is more than willing to co-operate with them.
• Allie hates The Cult of Meat with a passion.
• Allie likes every species except Redworlders. Redworlders terrify her.
GOALS
• Explore Set. She wants to see just about everything. (excluding Loonie Bunkers and Meatscapes. She’d have to be crazy.)
• Save lives.
• Gather knowledge which she takes an interest in. Set’s physiological oddities, culture, and locales.
HISTORY
Allie was always a bit of a mistake. Problems during her cloning phase made her not adjust perfectly to cybernetic body, with regular issues in processor management and efficiency. Complex things like logic would usually fail to compute, placing a mental cap from the get-go. Fellow unionites took pity on her, letting her grow and develop within the network’s simulation. Allie would learn, albeit slowly, the physiology of every species on Set’s planet.
She would also learn how little she belonged in unionite society. Incapable of accomplishing tasks to help the network due to either lack of attention or lack of ability, she was as good as useless. The pity from others would quickly grow into animosity or frustration. On a personal level, Allie disliked the same-ness of unionite culture, jaded towards the uniformity and monotony. Feeling alienated, once Allie finished learning, she asked to travel down to Set. Only a month later, she was on a one-way trip planet side.
Her first few months were hellish. Landing near Cloneston, the brutality of Set’s surface nearly killed her on the spot. Those first few months also trained her survival instincts on Set, which boiled down to knowing who she could trust and who she couldn’t, where to go and where to stay away from. She managed to survive long enough to learn how to leverage her skills as a doctor. The threats diminished as she joined a major AI within the city, doing clone medical work at an outpost on the outskirts.
Despite the harrowing experience, she already had started enjoying Set. The chaos and breadth of new experiences and information had drawn her in. In a year, she left her post. She then travelled to the wasteland to do some Good Samaritan work fixing up wastelanders. This would become routine. Stay for however long it took for her to either see everything or get bored, and then leave for the next stop. It’s been five years since she landed, and she’s still doing the same thing.
