Set was made for funny coincidences. Towns live and die based on happenstance and random chance. Every once in a while, junk falling from orbit wipes out an entire settlement. Crashing garbage haulers have armed backwards savages with railguns and gravity cannons. On occasion, a Looney bunker will emerge from nothing, right in the middle of a cultist warband. When the redworlders arrived, so closely matched to mankind that their differences wore down to digit counts, no one was really surprised. They were even invited in.
The redworlders are the chief representatives of the Cult of Meat and Space Loonies alike. They were the first intelligent species to arrive on Set after mankind - and, by some accounts, may have even pre-dated the Pioneer Network. After humanity, they are the second most populous species on and over the planet, with the majority of their population in orbit among the Space Loonies. In much the same way, the redworlders are regarded - in an awkward capacity - as the face of Set's alien presence.
