Junk, Guns, & Good Company
Officially known as the Todesfield-Clemston General Salvage Company, the Todesfield Stalkers are a small salvaging and arms manufacturing business operating on both sides of the law out of Garran space. Throughout their comparatively brief history, the Stalkers have been reputed for their ability to find - or build - just about anything, with an eminent focus on hand-crafted small arms and military-grade spacecraft parts.
The Todesfield Stalkers are notably affiliated with the Howling Marauders and Woodshock Support Elements mercenary outfits, Lenny's Loonies privateer clan, and Omnia security corporation, providing both supplies and general coordination to all three. The Stalkers also maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of independent and unlawful businesses, with prominent ties to mercenaries and bounty hunters outside of their preferred clients.
The Stalkers maintain an employee base of roughly 297 active personnel operating both their lawful and illegitimate enterprises, as well as a small fleet of 10 heavy shuttles, 4 frigates, and 1 cargo cruiser that typically operate in 3 separate fleets. As of the current date, the Todesfield Stalkers have never reported a net loss and continue to earn profits from all branches of their business.
The original Todesfield Stalkers logo created in 2197. While no longer the official logo of the company, it remains in widespread use, particularly among longtime members. It regularly features on Stalker equipment and is notably branded on the hulls of the frigate Tilomier and the cruiser Heavy Heart.
History
The Todesfield Stalkers were founded in 2196, on the planet Todesfield, as an informal arrangement by Federal Guard-contracted salvagers to share profits and expand their operational capacity. From the beginning, the Stalkers were on the wrong side of the law; the Praetorian Federation explicitly forbid salvagers operating on and around Todesfield from organizing together as a result of pirate activity in the system.
The Stalkers continued to expand as they worked on Todesfield by way of absorbing fledgling pirate gangs and other salvaging groups. The Todeslav Timosi, Hendrickson Salvage Company, and Boneyard Dogs all joined the Todesfield Stalkers after a joint arrangement by all four parties at the beginning of 2197. By the end of 2197, the Stalkers accounted for more than half of all salvagers on Todesfield at an estimated 87 active members.
Though not much more than a matter of paperwork and a fine were they ever caught, the unlawful circumstances of the Stalkers' founding has shaped their identity to this day. After two years of successful salvaging, the Todesfield Stalkers broke into the arms manufacturing sector - with none of the appropriate registration - in roughly 2198 after the purchase of a small factory in Havrilstadt, on the Commonwealth planet of Clemston.
On the same day, they were registered as the Todesfield-Clemston General Salvage Company and made their first entry into legitimate salvage work. Contracts with various private and government clients on Clemston enabled the Stalkers to establish themselves as a reputable business while simultaneously taking in materials for their illegal weapons production.
In 2199, the Todesfield Stalkers entered into a partnership with the Howling Marauders private military company and, on the same day, acquired three interstellar cargo shuttles for independent salvage work. These two events put the Stalkers on track for a meteoric rise in profitability lasting roughly three years. Profits levelled out by the time of the purchase of the Tilomier, a mining frigate intended for use as a shipbreaker, in 2203.
The partnership with the Howling Marauders opened the Stalkers up to further cooperation from the Woodshock mercenary corps and the nomad privateers of Lenny's Loonies in late 2200 and early 2202 respectively. Since the beginning of their involvement, Lenny's Loonies have used the Stalkers as their sole source of weapons and ammunition.
In 2202, the Omnia security corporation became a preferred client for the Todesfield Stalkers' arms manufacturing branch. The circumstances surrounding the Omnia's involvement with the Stalkers have remained unclear and, as a result, several attempts by some of the Stalkers' founding members were made to sever connections with the corporation in early 2203. Omnia remains an active client to this day and the Stalkers' internal disputes have since been resolved.
The official logo of the Todesfield-Clemston General Salvage Company, currently used and trademarked by the Stalkers today. Despite being the only publicly-recognized branding of the company, it has struggled to gain popularity compared to the Todesfield Stalkers' original logo.
Credits and thanks for the Todesfield Stalkers logo go to Silverwing for his commendable work in creating it.
