Anchorage
The current date is 2203 A.F. Mankind is displaced and Earth is nothing but a long forgotten memory. And yet humanity is at the strongest it has ever been, holding claim to thousands of planets and hundreds of star systems. Against aliens and the elements, humankind has established itself as the dominant force in the galaxy.
However, man's dominance has been a long time coming. For hundreds of thousands of years, humans were isolated to generation ships as they made their exodus from Earth. Many did not have destinations and many more were lost, and the few that arrived safely did not have an easy beginning. The harsh readjustment to gravity, local diseases and ailments, or even a lack of raw resources plagued the opening steps of the first colonists. Dwindling populations struck down many future nations before some could even land on a suitable planet, many others succumbing to the difficulties of colonial life upon arrival.
A common theme among the even fewer that survived was a lack of knowledge about Earth. Historical records lost to the slow process of inevitable data corruption and oral traditions lost or mutated through the generations have left those with facts about mankind's homeworld a distinct rarity. So rare, in fact, that this information is coveted and kept a closely guarded secret by the few governments that know of humanity's past. Why is likewise hidden and covered up with the utmost scrutiny.
Today, man finds its dominance challenged. Pressures from within, such as the vengeful Verinen Regentic, and from without, as in the rising Inkron Governance Sphere, threaten to challenge the existing order. Superpowers such as the Praetorian Federation and Garrant Commonwealth stand against these agents of change, most, if not all of those defending the status quo being members of the Coalition of Human Systems.
One must keep in mind, however, that no one is truly the bad guy in this state of affairs. For example, while many applaud the Commonwealth for its effective democracy and expansive list of human rights, many also often choose to ignore its constant imperialistic activity and aggressively selfish trade policies. While many outside Verinen territories despise them for their own aggressive tendencies, few acknowledge their quality of life and effective government. The Inkron are simply what they are; aliens carving out their own existence on the borders of human space. So foreign are they to mankind that applying such a basic label of "good" or "evil" is useless and primitive.
With all this in mind, one must remember the tired statement that has been echoed through human history; everything is just a shade of grey. However black or white is entirely subjective.
The arctic planet of Anchorage is one of the central focuses of man's interstellar economy and politics, being the landing site of the generation ship Faith. The Faith was one of the largest generation ships that entered the area of presently known human space, but it was also one of the "least successful", so to say. It landed on Anchorage by almost complete accident, as the colonists onboard had forgotten their original purpose. When they landed, the ship was already badly damaged passing through the debris field surrounding the planet. Conditions worsened as a harsh blizzard set in on the landing zone. The colonists eventually abandoned their vessel in maintenance shuttles, many of which failed before they could reach their destination. While, ordinarily, without the tools and information the Faith would have provided, the colonists should have died out or hardly scraped by. Instead, they survived, difficult as it was, and eventually grew to flourish. Over roughly a thousand years, the people of Anchorage climbed the technological and industrial ladders again, reliving human history in fast forward. Today, Anchorage sits as one of the most populated, well-developed, and significant planets in human space, a result of the long build-up to reclaim their former glory.
Timeline
All dates are A.F., or "After the Fall", a generally-accepted date of reference taking its name and year zero from the Faith's landing on Anchorage. As there is little information about the time span between when the exodus from Earth began and when the first ship arrived in present-day human space, let alone the date when it all started, few alternatives exist. The Earth standard of 24 hour days and 12 months to a year, however, remains, as this was the standard measure of time aboard most generation ships.

-200 (?) A.F.
- Trade negotiations fail between Ollenhall and Tervinn. Ollenhall invades Tervinn in its first interplanetary military victory. The government and at least 200,000 colonists from Tervinn evacuate in the Rhine.
-200-100 A.F.
- Tervinn evacuees settle on Alstannes. The Rhine is rebuilt as the first government building of the Republic of Tervinn. It is at an unknown date following this that the Republic of Tervinn fails and is replaced by the Verinen Permanos Regentic.
